7th International Conference on
Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention

Rennes - Saint-Malo, France

September 26-30, 2004

Scope of the Conference

MICCAI is the premier international conference with in-depth papers for medical image computing, computer-assisted intervention and medical robotics. The multidisciplinary nature of these emerging fields brings together clinicians, bioscientists, computer scientists, engineers, physicists & other researchers who are contributing to, and need to keep abreast of, advances in the methodology and applications.

All contributions will be published by Springer-Verlag in the LNCS book series. All sessions (oral and poster) follow a single-track format, rather than parallel sessions. The conference gives equal weight to posters and oral presentations and the selected presentation mode is based on the most appropriate communication medium. Non-overlapping oral and poster sessions ensure that all attendees have the opportunity to interact personally with presenters.

Call for Papers

Pre-Submission Deadline: March 01, 2004

Final Submission Deadline: March 08, 2004

Papers may be regular (up to 8 pages, including all references, tables, and figures) or communications (up to 2 pages). We would especially like to encourage submission of papers that demonstrate clinical relevance and application. We invite submissions for MICCAI 2004 in one of the following formats (LNCS Style):

puce Two-page contributions will be reviewed by a specific review panel, and will be assessed for quality and, if accepted, will be for poster presentation only. Short papers should relate to preliminary results of scientific work, reports of clinical applications and validation, new ideas or embryonic research or software dedicated to clinical applications with validation.

puce Regular (8-page) papers will be reviewed by members of the review panel, and assessed for quality and best means of presentation:

  • Poster presentation is the normal means of presentation at MICCAI. Regular papers accepted for this means of presentation will be previewed in sessions of 45-second "teasers", in which the presenter provides the audience with a quick summary of the work. We subsequently break from the oral presentations to allow ample time for the audience to visit the posters and engage directly with the presenting author(s). All regular posters will be on display for the full duration of the meeting.
  • Oral presentation is conducted in a single track, so that the audience can attend every presentation. The Program Committee will select the papers they judge to be most effectively presented orally and will group them into appropriate sessions

puce Please contact the Program Chair for questions related to paper content.

Tutorials will complement and enhance the scientific program of MICCAI 2004. The purpose is to provide educational material for training new professionals in the field of medical image processing, medical robotics and image assisted intervention (students, clinicians, new researchers in the field). They will also provide discussions of technical and application issues.
